Our Story

In the winter of 2021, I moved from Vermont to Portland, Maine, drawn by the rugged natural landscape, a fresh wave of creative inspiration, and my own love story. A dear friend and I started selling handmade wreaths at a local holiday market, and to our delight, we sold out quickly. That moment marked the birth of Wintertide.

Today, Wintertide Floral has blossomed into a full-service floral design studio. We craft garden-inspired arrangements that are rooted in story, season, and space. Our designs honor movement, emotion, and grounded luxury—bringing the beauty of botanicals to life in every moment we touch.

Floral Designer

Jenny Kalanges

My foundation in floral design began on a small flower farm in Vermont over 10 years ago, where I immersed myself in the full lifecycle of the work—planting, harvesting, and arranging blooms directly from the field. That experience shaped my style: deeply seasonal, textural, and guided by an intuitive understanding of form and color.

Since then, I’ve honed my craft through years of design experience, drawing on that early training to create floral compositions that feel romantic and elegant. My aesthetic is loose and intentional, layered with luxurious texture and touched by a sense of intentional wildness. A steward of sustainable design, I avoid floral foam and plastics, and aim to use local materials wherever I can to have the lightest footprint on our planet possible.

At the core of my work is the desire to create spaces and moments that move people. I believe the best design goes beyond the visual—it evokes a feeling. I most love getting to know my clients personally and creating work that only they can inspire. The best kind of alchemy.

I live in Portland, Maine, with my photographer partner, our son, and our pup, Hazel.

INVESTMENT

We love working with couples who truly love flowers and want them to be a meaningful part of their wedding day. We’ll pull out all the stops to ensure your florals are everything you’ve envisioned and more.

Our approach is simple and personal. We’ll start with an initial call to learn more about your wedding, your priorities, and what inspires you. From there, we will send over a proposal for your review. Once we’ve aligned on a direction, we will send along a contract and invoice for 50% of your flower order to hold your date in our books. We’ll check in 45 days before the wedding and ensure no addtional changed to your order need to be made. Final payment is due 1 month before the wedding.

To make the most of this conversation, we recommend coming in with a general sense of your floral budget. For reference, most of our full-service weddings fall in the $8,000–$12,000 range.
